Order of work

Hang outdoor lights on a dry weekend in November, while gutters are clear and ladders are safe. Test every strand on the lawn first. The tree and the mantel can wait until December.

  1. Measure the roofline and plan strands with the planner.
  2. Clip the strand to the gutter every 12 inches or so.
  3. Plug outdoor strands into a covered outdoor outlet.
  4. Put the tree lights on before the ornaments.
